Wayne State Fieldhouse | Wayne State Warriors
Wayne State University's Taylor Thompson has been recognized as the GLIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office earlier today.
Thompson, a junior from Grand Blanc, Michigan, played a crucial role in Wayne State's victory over Northwood last Thursday. She secured eight defensive rebounds and achieved a game-high total of 15 boards. Her efforts contributed to limiting Northwood to 33 percent shooting and just seven second-chance points. Despite Northwood missing 46 shots, they managed only 11 offensive rebounds.
The Warriors are set to face Hillsdale in a non-conference game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a match against Tiffin on Saturday at 3 p.m. This will conclude their season-opening series of five games against former GLIAC members now part of the GMAC.
