Wayne State Fieldhouse | Wayne State Warriors
The Wayne State University men's basketball team is preparing for its final two non-conference games in November. The Warriors, currently 0-3, will host Tiffin University on Saturday at 1 p.m. and then travel to face Lewis University on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Both teams have had challenging starts to their seasons. Tiffin, with a record of 1-4, recently secured their first win against Miami University (Middletown) after losing their initial four games. Meanwhile, Lewis stands at an even 2-2, having experienced consecutive victories followed by losses to Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
Wayne State has historically dominated the series against Tiffin with 20 wins out of 23 matchups. The Warriors have won six straight encounters against the Dragons and are strong at home with a record of 10-1. Conversely, the series with Lewis is more competitive, with Lewis leading slightly by one game in their past meetings.
Tiffin's new head coach Desmond Balentine is focusing on key players like Allen Fordham and Jacob Pleiman to improve their performance this season. Meanwhile, Scott Trost continues his long tenure as head coach at Lewis, where he relies on players such as Rob Stroud and Paxton Warden for offensive strength.
In their last game against Findlay on November 17th, Wayne State struggled despite some early leads. Findlay capitalized on Wayne State's turnovers and maintained a lead throughout the game to secure a victory.
Wayne State's games are broadcast live on WDTK - The Patriot (1400 AM / 101.5 FM), excluding two non-Division II matches in December. Kevin Brechmacher will provide commentary for these broadcasts alongside former Warriors/Tartars during home games.
Additionally, all GLIAC contests are available through FloSports as part of an agreement with the conference.
