Wayne State University's women's basketball team is set to kick off its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with two home games. The Warriors, currently on a three-game winning streak, will host Davenport University on Thursday and Grand Valley State University on Saturday at the WSU Fieldhouse.

In their series history against Davenport, Wayne State holds a 10-4 advantage. The Warriors have won the last three encounters, including an 84-61 victory at home earlier this year. However, they face a challenging opponent in Grand Valley State, trailing 26-62 in their all-time series and having lost the last 20 meetings.

Davenport enters Thursday's game with a 1-5 record. Senior forward Jaci Walker leads the Panthers with an average of 11.7 points per game. "Leading the way for the Panthers is senior forward Jaci Walker," noted a statement about her performance.

Grand Valley State is ranked No. 1 nationally by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and boasts a perfect 7-0 record this season. Rylie Bisballe is highlighted as their leading scorer: "2023-24 GLIAC Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-American Rylie Bisballe is the leading scorer for the Lakers."

Wayne State players Shea Tripp and Taylor Thompson are making national headlines for their performances. Both are ranked among Division II leaders in double-doubles, with Tripp tied-for-16th and Thompson tied-for-46th.

Taylor Thompson has been consistent in scoring double figures over recent games, while Shea Tripp continues to impress with her third double-double of the season against Tiffin: "Shea Tripp notched her third double-double of the 2024-25 campaign."

The Warriors' recent victories include wins against Hillsdale and Tiffin, demonstrating strong offensive and defensive plays led by key contributors like Alyssa Leister and Gabi Lutchka.
