Wayne State University junior Taylor Thompson has been recognized as the GLIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. The announcement was made by the conference earlier today.
Thompson's performance against Davenport was noteworthy, as she achieved a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, along with two steals, an assist, and a block. In a crucial third quarter where Wayne State led 32-30 at halftime, Thompson added four points, six rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot, and a steal. Her contribution continued in the fourth period against the Panthers with five successful field goals out of five attempts, two rebounds, and a steal.
In another game against top-ranked Grand Valley State, Thompson scored 16 points and secured nine rebounds. She also contributed two steals, two assists, and one block during that match-up.
Thompson ranks second in the GLIAC for rebounds per contest (8.7) as Wayne State prepares to face Edinboro on Wednesday.
