Wayne State University's volleyball team is set to welcome seven new players for the fall 2025 season. Head coach Tim Koth and assistant Hailey Richardson announced the recruits, who will join the Warriors in August. The newcomers include setter Abby Baushke from Decatur, Michigan; outside hitter Lauren Essenpreis from Amherstburg, Ontario; outside hitter/middle blocker Alina Ike from Grand Blanc, Michigan; outside hitter Amelia Klos from Chesterfield, Michigan; setter Abby Macalaguim from Chula Vista, California; defensive specialist Marley Onken from Portage, Michigan; and middle blocker Kat Stout from Macomb, Michigan.

"We are looking forward to the 2025 class joining us in August," said Koth. "They will have the chance as a group to impact us on the floor right away, as well as add needed depth to several positions for our roster. They are all outstanding young women who embody what a student-athlete should be, and we welcome them to the Warrior volleyball family."

Abby Baushke will bring her skills as a setter to Wayne State after an impressive high school career at Decatur High School. She was recognized for her performance with All-Region accolades three times and served as team captain for three years.

Lauren Essenpreis joins as an outside hitter with significant experience in high-level training both in club and provincial programs in Ontario. Her achievements include First Team accolades in Windsor Essex County Secondary Schools Athletic Association honors.

Alina Ike comes aboard with versatility as an outside hitter/middle blocker. She has been recognized for her athletic abilities with Honorable Mention All-Saginaw Valley League recognition.

Amelia Klos will strengthen the team's offensive line-up with her aggressive play style and competitive court presence.

Abby Macalaguim transfers to Wayne State bringing valuable experience gained at Saint Anselm College where she was a three-year starter in their 6-2 offense.

Marley Onken is expected to enhance Wayne State's defense significantly due to her vocal and aggressive defending skills.

Kat Stout rounds out the new additions bringing experience from national level competitions through her club program at Michigan Elite.

Coach Koth expressed enthusiasm about each player's potential contributions: "We expect [them]...to be competing right from the start."
