Wayne State University's women's swimming and diving team faced a challenging match against Oakland University, resulting in a 152-86 defeat. The competition took place on Saturday afternoon, with the Golden Grizzlies emerging victorious.

"Oakland was certainly a formidable opponent, but we certainly had some nice races," stated head coach Sean Peters. He highlighted the team's performance in the 1650 races and noted strong performances across both swimming and diving events. Peters expressed optimism about the upcoming conference meet, stating, "With more than four weeks before the conference meet, and with our final meet of the regular season next Saturday, we are looking forward to fine-tuning ourselves and getting ready for our conference championships."

The Warriors secured victories in three events during the meet. Barbara Munoz from Yumbo, Colombia, won the 1650 free with a time of 17:09.45. Delaney Parker from Dexter, Michigan, claimed victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.20. The team also triumphed in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.92, featuring swimmers Barbara Munoz, Sabine Branford from Plymouth, Michigan; Alli Vassilakos from Clarkston, Michigan; and Julia Katulski from Novi, Michigan.

Looking ahead, Wayne State will host Division III Calvin for their final regular-season meet on January 25 at 1 p.m., which will also serve as Senior Day.
