George Day named GLIAC men's tennis player of the week

Wayne State University freshman George Day has been recognized as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) men's tennis player of the week. The announcement was made by the league office.

Day played a significant role in leading Wayne State to victories over Case Western Reserve University and the University of Northwestern Ohio. In a match against Case Western, Day, alongside his partner Cedric Drenth, secured a 6-3 win against Casey Hishinuma and Anmay Devaraj. In singles play, Day continued his winning streak with scores of 7-5, 6-2.

In another match against UNOH, Day took on the No. 1 singles position for the first time this season and emerged victorious with scores of 6-4, 6-2. The duo of Drenth and Day also triumphed in doubles with a score of 6-2.

The Wayne State men's tennis team is scheduled to play next at home at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility on Friday, February 21 against the University of Findlay.
