Wayne State opens GLIAC swimming championships with strong performances

The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team began its participation in the 2025 GLIAC Championships at the Holland Aquatic Center. The event started on Wednesday morning and will span four days. The Warriors took part in three events, with nine athletes advancing to the finals scheduled for tonight.

In the 200 IM, Clayton Kinnard finished second with a time of 1:47.55, followed by Olin Charnstrom in third place at 1:47.93, both achieving NCAA B Cut times. Lorenzo Tassinari also advanced to the championship finals, securing eighth place with a time of 1:49.42. Gabriel Arias and Alex Duhaime advanced to the consolation finals after finishing 15th and 16th, respectively.

For the 50 free event, Tomas Osorio progressed to the consolation finals with a ninth-place finish and an NCAA B Cut time of 20.42.

The results for the timed final of the 1000 free will be determined later tonight. Harrison Arnold leads with a first-place finish so far at a time of 9:23.52, meeting an NCAA B Cut standard.
