The Wayne State University women's outdoor track and field team, along with the men's cross country squad, completed their first weekend of outdoor competition at the Indiana Wesleyan Polar Bear Classic in Marion, Indiana.
The women's team featured two throwers participating in both the discus and hammer events. Ania Toboy, a freshman from Wyandotte, Michigan, finished 23rd in the discus with a throw of 33.17 meters (108-10.00) and also placed 23rd in the hammer with a distance of 39.78 meters (130-06.00). Makayla Stewart, a sophomore from Novi, Michigan, came in 31st in the discus with a mark of 30.92 meters (101-05.00) and ranked 42nd in the hammer with a throw of 31.15 meters (102-02.00).
On the men's side, three members participated in the 1,500-meter event. Junior Kenny Minto from Davison, Michigan secured an eighth-place finish with a time of 4:06.82. Freshman Sam Martini from Casnovia, Michigan clocked in at 4:24.75 to place 44th, while sophomore Brady Heron from Northville, Michigan finished closely behind at 45th with a time of 4:24.76.
Looking ahead to later this month, "the Warriors will conclude March" by having their female athletes participate in either the Texas State Bobcat Invitational scheduled for March 27-29 or attend other events such as "the Washington University Distance Carnival (March 27-28), or the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open (March 29)."
