The Wayne State University softball team faced a challenging Senior Day as the squad dropped both games of a doubleheader to the visiting Parkside Rangers. The event took place at Gary L. Bryce Field, with Parkside securing narrow victories in both matches.

During the opening game of the day, Wayne State and Parkside remained scoreless until the Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Senior Rylie Josephson singled, and sophomore Logan Forman followed with an RBI triple. However, Parkside equalized with two runs in the sixth inning and eventually clinched a 3-2 win in the 10th inning, aided by the international tiebreaker rule.

In the pitcher's circle, Sydney Long represented Wayne State for 10 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) and securing three strikeouts. Ellie Curtis, who pitched for the Rangers, allowed two earned runs on 11 hits, claiming victory with six strikeouts.

Highlight performances in the first game included Logan Forman’s three hits for Wayne State, while Megan Medlin led Parkside with two hits.

The second game saw Parkside establish an early lead, scoring all three of their runs in the third inning. Wayne State managed a single run in the seventh inning from hits by Katelyn DeWitt and Jessie O'Donnell, settling the game at 3-1 in favor of Parkside.

Pitching for Wayne State, Hayden Batton allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits over seven innings. Amber Smith pitched the complete game for Parkside, yielding four hits and a single earned run.

The Wayne State Warriors will next face Tiffin in non-conference play, preparing for a doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, April 15.
