Wayne State track team achieves historic throws in California

Four members of the Wayne State University women's track and field team participated in events on Wednesday in California, yielding two top performances in the school's history. Peyton Hansen, specializing in the javelin throw, achieved the fourth-best result ever recorded at Wayne State University. Freshman Ania Toboy set the tenth-best mark in the hammer throw.

At the Cal State LA Twilight Open held at the Jesse Owens Track, Ania Toboy from Wyandotte, Michigan, ranked 14th in the hammer with a throw of 42.52 meters, placing her tenth in the school's historical records for the event. Her teammate, Makayla Stewart from Novi, Michigan, secured the 18th spot with a throw of 34.32 meters.

In the javelin event, senior Peyton Hansen from Freeland, Michigan, attained a third-place finish with a 35.93 meter throw, marking the fourth-best performance in the university's history.
