Wayne State University's men's tennis team faced a narrow defeat against Ferris State University in the NCAA Midwest Regional. The No. 3-seeded Wayne State team, with a record of 15-8, lost 4-3 to the No. 6-seeded Bulldogs, who hold a 13-8 record, at Center Grove High School.

The match began positively for Wayne State as they secured the lead by winning two doubles matches. Cedric Drenth and Tom Wasner turned around an early deficit to win their match 6-4. George Day and Sam Knowles also claimed victory with a score of 6-2 in their match.

In singles play, Day won his match convincingly with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Luis Klaus added another win for Wayne State by defeating his opponent with identical sets of 6-3.

However, Ferris State mounted a comeback with Felipe Iser and Erik Kovacs securing wins over Knowles and Wasner respectively. The decisive moment came when Kevin Kovacs defeated Drenth after a closely contested third set that ended in favor of Kovacs at 7-5.

Benjamin Hill fought hard but was ultimately defeated by Jose Andres Perez Alarcon in three sets, sealing the overall victory for Ferris State.

Despite this loss, Wayne State's participation marks its fifteenth appearance in the NCAA Tournament over the last twenty-five years under head coach Bryan Morrow's leadership. The team will return most players next season except senior Cedric Drenth, who leaves behind an impressive legacy as Wayne State's all-time leader in both career singles and doubles victories.
