Five members of Wayne State University's 2025 baseball team have been honored with Academic All-District awards by College Sports Communicators (CSC). These recognitions highlight the players' achievements both on the field and in their academic pursuits.
The athletes receiving this accolade are graduate center fielder Jacoby Dale, junior first baseman/designated hitter Bennett Hitzelberger, redshirt junior pitcher Gabe Nazelli, senior utility player Mason McGuire, and graduate utility player Reagan Paulina.
Dale has maintained a GPA of 3.66 while studying Sport Management and Sports Administration. He participated in 51 games, starting 47 as a centerfielder. His performance included a .305 batting average and he recorded a hitting streak of 16 games. Dale also demonstrated strong defensive skills with a .990 fielding percentage.
Hitzelberger, who holds a 3.79 GPA in Finance, played in 52 games with significant contributions at first base and as designated hitter. He led his team with a .349 batting average and excelled in several offensive categories including doubles and total bases.
Nazelli boasts a GPA of 3.77 in Exercise & Sport Science. As a pitcher, he appeared in 13 games with ten starts, achieving a 4.08 ERA and leading his team in victories. His standout performances earned him Second Team All-GLIAC honors.
McGuire achieved a GPA of 3.78 while studying Sport Management and played multiple positions across the field during his appearances in 51 games. His offensive record includes hitting .341 with notable runs scored and stolen bases.
Paulina completed his studies with GPAs of 3.79 and an impressive perfect score of 4.00 in Finance. Over his participation in 45 games, he contributed significantly across five different positions on the field.
Nazelli and McGuire will advance to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on July 1 at noon.
