Wayne State University's baseball team saw 20 of its student-athletes receive recognition from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for their academic achievements during the 2024-25 season. Sixteen players were named to the All-Academic Excellence Team, setting a new record for the program, surpassing the previous high of 15 honorees in the 2020-21 season.
The criteria for this accolade require that student-athletes be active roster members at season's end and not be freshmen or first-year transfer students. The grade-point averages considered are calculated through the winter semester.
Notable members of the All-Academic Excellence Team include Brady Blakita with a GPA of 3.86, Jacoby Dale marking his third consecutive selection with a GPA of 3.66, and Reagan Paulina achieving a perfect GPA of 4.00.
Additional accolades were awarded to select players: Dale, Bennett Hitzelberger, Gabe Nazelli, Mason McGuire, and Paulina received CSC Academic All-District honors. McGuire also earned a GLIAC Commissioner's Award and was named Second Team All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).
The team's commitment to academic excellence is evident as it continues to achieve high standards both on and off the field.
