Wayne State University has announced the addition of Sonia Bayahya to its women's golf roster for the 2025-26 season. The signing brings the number of student-athletes on the team to five as they prepare for the upcoming fall schedule.

Bayahya, a recent graduate of Lycée Français International Louis-Massignon High School in Casablanca, Morocco, received her French Baccalauréat with High Honors and was recognized with a Sports Star Distinction. Over the past eight years, she has won 39 Junior Federal Tournaments and claimed the Moroccan National Junior Champion title five times between 2017 and 2022. In addition, she won the 2022 Egyptian Junior Championships and finished third at the All-Africa Junior Championships in South Africa in 2024.

Her achievements also include ranking first in the Girls' Junior Merit Rankings from 2017 to 2022 and second place in both 2023 and 2024. Since 2021, Bayahya has been a member of the National Moroccan Team. She placed nineteenth at the World Teen Championship held at Pinehurst, North Carolina, in 2024 with scores of 71, 75, and 77. She represented Morocco at both junior and ladies levels during the Pan Arab Golf Championship in 2025.

Bayahya plans to major in Finance and Business Law at Wayne State University. Her background includes earning a black belt in judo.

Head coach Larry Hamilton commented on Bayahya's arrival: "We are all very excited for Sonia to join us this year. She's a great player with a lot of experience having played for her national team in Morocco. I can't wait for her to get to know her new teammates and be a part of our program."
