Wayne State University’s baseball program has announced the signing of four freshmen position players ahead of the 2025 season. Head coach Ryan Kelley, who is entering his 18th year with the Warriors, introduced catcher/infielder Cooper Clark, middle infielder Carter Cline, catcher Brayden Crowe, and infielder/pitcher Landon Ide as the latest additions to the team. The university noted that a future announcement will cover incoming freshman pitchers.

Cooper Clark joins from London, Ontario, where he graduated from Lord Dorchester Secondary School. He played in the Canadian Premier Baseball League with the Great Lake Canadians under coach Chris Robinson. According to personal details provided by Wayne State, Clark was born on April 19, 2006, in London and plans to major in Early & Elementary Education.

Carter Cline comes from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s in Michigan. As a three-year varsity letterwinner for coaches Matt Petry and Nick DiPonio, he primarily played as a middle infielder and contributed to his team reaching the state semifinals with a 23-8 record during his senior year. Cline led among teammates with nine stolen bases in 2025 and received academic honors. He plays summer baseball for Michigan Elite under coach Mike Rodriguez and intends to study Finance at Wayne State.

Brayden Crowe arrives from Hartland High School after being a three-year letterwinner for coach Brad Guenther—a Wayne State Hall of Fame inductee. Crowe helped lead Hartland to a 28-15 record and secured the MHSAA Division 1 state title in 2025. He went two-for-two with a walk during the state semifinal win over Grosse Pointe South and added another hit in the championship game victory. Crowe batted .440 during KLAA play as a senior and earned All-KLAA and All-County honors while serving as team captain. In summer ball with Legacy Adidas Tousa coached by Scott Tousa, he hit .435 in 2024.

Landon Ide is joining from Bonita Springs High School in Florida after four years as a letterwinner for coach David Sadler. He earned All-Area First Team honors while batting .365 with an on-base percentage of .474 and posting a 1.80 ERA as a pitcher. Ide was also named President’s Academic List honoree, served as Senior Class President, and was active in National Honor Society activities. During summer competition for CBU Scout Team under Aaron Lawson—a former WSU baseball player—Ide contributed to multiple tournament titles including BCS national championship wins.

Coach Kelley stated: "The next baseball recruit story will feature four freshmen pitchers."
