The Wayne State University men's golf team is set to open its 2025-26 season at the Glenmoor Invitational hosted by Malone University. The event will take place in Canton, Ohio at Glenmoor Country Club on September 8 and 9. Teams will play 36 holes on the first day, followed by a final round of 18 holes on the second.
Head coach Mike Horn, entering his 25th year with the program, expressed optimism about the upcoming season. "I'm really looking forward to starting the season," said Horn. "We've got a lot of young talent and I'm very excited to see what they can do in competition. We're looking for big things from our experienced players and the sky is the limit for the freshmen and the new players. Not everybody is eligible yet so this won't be our full complement of players, but I think overall it will be a very good test to start the year. Looking for Andrew Daily and Josh Lahner to lead the team. Andrew, Josh and Shawn Sehra are all captains this year and should do a very good job of leading our squad. Looking really forward to seeing what newcomers Troy Chapman and Jack Julian can provide on the golf course as well. Congratulations to volleyball and cross country on starting the season very strong for the Warriors. We hope to continue that on the golf course the next couple of days."
The starting lineup for Wayne State includes Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.), Jack Julian (South Lyon, Mich.), Troy Chapman (Lexington, Ohio), Josh Lahner (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park), and Shawn Sehra (Windsor, Ont./Academy 21 [Xavier]). Competing as individuals are Harrison Chapman (Marshall, Mich.), Will Pollack (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern), and Aidan Treharne (Livonia, Mich./U. of Detroit Jesuit).
Wayne State will compete against teams such as Ashland, Hillsdale, IUP, Kentucky Wesleyan, Malone's two squads (A & B), Mount Union, Ohio Dominican, Pitt-Johnstown, Walsh, Washington & Jefferson.
