Wayne State University’s baseball program has added three transfer pitchers to its roster, according to an announcement from head coach Ryan Kelley. The new signings include right-handed pitcher Will Lowery, left-handed pitcher Philip Miller, and right-handed pitcher Jack Saputo.

Lowery joins the Warriors after two seasons at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. During his time there, he contributed to a record-setting 57 wins for the program and recorded a 4.79 ERA in 47 innings with 39 strikeouts in 2025. In the previous season, he made 14 appearances and posted a 4.47 ERA with 55 strikeouts over 46.1 innings as KVCC advanced to the Region XII Division II Baseball Championship.

Lowery is a graduate of Grosse Ile High School, where he earned All-Huron League, All-District, and All-Downriver News Herald honors and served as team captain during his senior year.

Philip Miller arrives at Wayne State following stints at Schoolcraft Community College and Tusculum. In the most recent season at Tusculum, Miller started all 13 games he pitched, recording a 2-6 record with a 5.76 ERA over nearly 60 innings and earning South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on March 26 for his performance against Mars Hill.

Previously at Schoolcraft C.C., Miller posted a combined record that included multiple victories highlighted by strong outings against ranked opponents and conference rivals. He was also named MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts against Jackson C.C.

Miller graduated from Woodhaven High School where he played both as a pitcher and first baseman for two years.

Jack Saputo transfers in from Macomb Community College after making notable contributions as a reliever in the most recent season. He finished with a standout 0.32 ERA across more than 28 innings while striking out 41 batters to just four walks. Saputo limited opposing hitters to a .124 average without allowing any extra-base hits and earned six saves on his way to selection for several regional honors including NJCAA Division II All-Region XII Team.

Saputo previously attended St. Anne Catholic High School in Belle River, Ontario, earning academic recognition before playing summer ball with the Windsor Selects.

Kelley said: "We are thrilled to welcome Will Lowery, Philip Miller and Jack Saputo into our baseball family here at Wayne State University."

He continued: "All three bring experience from competitive collegiate programs along with high character traits that align well within our culture."

"Our coaching staff is eager to work alongside these student-athletes as they continue their development both on-and-off-the-field," Kelley added.
