Wayne State University's men's golf team is in second place after the first day of the Motor City Shakedown, held at TPC Michigan in Dearborn. The tournament features five teams and will conclude with a final round on Tuesday.

Josh Lahner leads all players individually with an even-par 144 (77-67) over two rounds, while teammate Will Pollack sits in second at 145 (+1). Head coach Mike Horn commented on the team's performance: "The boys battled back today. The greens and the golf course played firm and fast and it got the best of us in the morning, but the boys rebounded well in the afternoon, especially Josh Lahner with a stellar 67. We've got to get more consistent and we need more consistency in the depth and then we will be exactly where we want to be. Excellent round by Davenport today. We are hoping to put some pressure on them early tomorrow, but we need all six guys clicking right from the start and can't have a slow start."

Other Wayne State golfers include Andrew Daily (T8th, 150), Harrison Chapman (T13th, 151), Troy Chapman (T16th, 152), Jack Julian (20th, 155), Luke Maher (21st, 157), Aidan Treharne (T22nd, 158), and Ethan Mukhtar (T25th, 160).

In team standings after two rounds, Davenport holds first place with a score of 586 (+10). Wayne State follows closely at 589 (+13). Roosevelt is third at 610 (+34), Northern Michigan fourth at 611 (+35), and Purdue Northwest fifth at 624 (+48).

The final round will determine which team secures victory among these five programs.
