Wayne State women’s golf sits tenth after two rounds at William Beall Fall Classic

The Wayne State University women's golf team completed the first two rounds of the William Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio, on Monday. The Warriors posted a combined score of 651 (+75) over 36 holes, with round scores of 323 and 328. The tournament features a competitive field of 17 teams.

After the opening day, sophomore Claudia Portillo from Madrid, Spain, and redshirt sophomore Clara Laffitte from Montevideo, Uruguay, led Wayne State. Both are tied for 45th place among 90 participants. Portillo recorded rounds of 80 and 82 for a total score of 162 (+18), while Laffitte finished with rounds of 82 and 80 for the same total.

Other contributors included Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) and Sonia Bayahya (Casablanca, Morocco), who are tied for 55th place with scores of 165 (+21). Ting-Yu Kuo (Taipei, Taiwan) is in a tie for 60th after carding a total score of 166 (+22).

Wayne State stands in tenth place out of seventeen teams after two rounds. Findlay leads the event with a team score of 595 (+19), followed by Grand Valley State at 603 (+27) and UIndy at 614 (+38).

The final round is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 9 a.m.
