The Wayne State University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Jayhawk Invite on Saturday, October 11. The event, hosted by Muskegon Community College, will begin with the men's 8K race at noon, followed by the women's 6K at 1:00 PM.

This will be the first meet for Wayne State since their participation in the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invite on September 27. At that event, the men's team finished 14th in the Championship 8K and third in the Open 8K. Glen Davis was the top finisher for Wayne State, placing 38th with a time of 25:35.40. The women's team secured a 12th-place finish in the Championship 6K, led by Ava Peters who finished 37th with a time of 22:23.40. In the Open 6K, Wayne State's women took first place with three runners finishing in the top ten.

The Jayhawk Invite will feature 23 programs, including three members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association: Ferris State, Grand Valley State, and Lake Superior State. The races will be held at the Muskegon Community College Golf Course in Muskegon, Michigan.

The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently released updated Regional and National Polls. Both Wayne State's men's and women's teams are ranked in the Midwest region, with the men placed tenth and the women ninth.
