Wayne State University's swimming and diving teams will open their 2025-26 season at the Davenport Invitational, a swimming-only event scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Kentwood Aquatic Center in Kentwood, Michigan. This marks the 29th season for head coach Sean Peters leading the Warriors.

"We are excited to kick off the 2025-26 Warrior season at the Davenport Invitational," said Peters. "It is a great opportunity for our programs to get some fast performances out of the gate, and I know the athletes are excited for this opportunity to see what they can do with the work we have been putting in for seven weeks. Looking forward to a fun opportunity to race some strong programs!"

Peters will be joined again this year by assistant coach Gloria Martinez Perez, now in her seventh season (fifth as full-time assistant), and head diving coach Jason Trout, who enters his fourth season. Graduate assistants Alli Vassilakos and Hassan Ezzeddine will also help with coaching duties.

The event will feature teams from Aquinas College (NAIA), Davenport University (GLIAC), Lake Superior State University (GLIAC), St. Ambrose University (NAIA), and Wayne State (GLIAC). The schedule includes multiple relay and individual events spread across three sessions: Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon.

On the men's side, Wayne State returns six swimmers expected to make significant contributions: Gabriel Arias, Khalil Ben Ajmia, Olin Charnstrom, William Debroux, Lorenzo Tassinari, and Tomas Osorio. Including divers, these athletes will be joined by 11 returning team members and nine newcomers.

For the women's team, key returning swimmers include Elly Belmore, Emily Hedley, Diana Muccioli, Kate Rhodes, Delaney Parker, and Emma Crispo. They will compete alongside nine other returners and ten new team members.

The invitational offers Wayne State an early chance to assess its roster against regional competitors as it begins another competitive season under experienced leadership.
