The Wayne State University men's fencing team has finalized its roster for the 2025-26 season with the addition of three foilists and one epeeist. The announcement was made by head coach Andy Tulleners, who is entering his third year leading the program.
The new foilists joining the team are Josiah Atkinson from Ann Arbor, Finn McIsaac from West Bloomfield, and Lukas Tsao from Bloomfield Hills. Justin Chenh from Falls Church, Virginia, will compete in epee.
Coach Tulleners commented on the incoming athletes: "This year's incoming men's foil and epee are strong additions to the team. All are coming with national competitive experience. I am very excited to see them translate that experience into practice and competitions."
Josiah Atkinson is a 2025 graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. He finished seventh at the April 2025 Fencing Center of Chicago Junior Men's Foil event and fifth at the October 2024 Escrime d'Halloween Junior Men's Foil. Atkinson plans to major in Music (Jazz Studies).
Justin Chenh graduated from Falls Church High School in Virginia in 2025. He placed 28th in Division 1-A Men's Epee at the 2024 Summer Nationals, competing against over 200 participants. Chenh intends to study Information Technology.
Finn McIsaac graduated summa cum laude from West Bloomfield High School. He won first place at both the March 2025 GRAFA Third Coast Cup and the October 2024 Escrime d'Halloween Junior Men's Foil. McIsaac plans to major in Neuroscience.
Lukas Tsao, a graduate of Bloomfield Hills High School, also competed for Renaissance Fencing Club. He placed third at the September 2024 Motor City RYC Junior Men's Foil event and first at the April 2023 Windy City ROC Cadet Men's Foil. Tsao will major in Finance.
The new recruits bring national-level competitive experience to Wayne State's fencing program as it prepares for the upcoming season.
