Kayla Giroux, a senior at Wayne State University, has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in the 2025 season. The announcement was made by the league on Monday. Giroux has now received eight GLIAC weekly honors during her collegiate career, with seven awards as an offensive player and one as a defender.

Against Lake Superior State on Friday, she achieved 14 kills with just one error from 23 attempts, resulting in a .565 hitting percentage. On Saturday, she led the team to a reverse sweep against Saginaw Valley State with a career-high 25 kills, three errors, and 42 swings for a .524 hitting percentage.

With two regular-season matches remaining, Giroux leads the conference in several categories: hitting percentage (.397), total kills (350), and kills per set (3.89). She is also third in total blocks (88), tied for second in assisted blocks (73), and tied for seventh in solo blocks (15). Nationally, she ranks 15th in hitting percentage, 23rd in points per set (4.55), 28th in total kills, and 30th in kills per set.

Wayne State will conclude its regular season at home inside Matthaei Volleyball Facility with matches against Grand Valley State on Thursday and Purdue Northwest on Friday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Giroux commented on her recognition: "It’s always an honor to be recognized by the GLIAC. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished this season."
