The Wayne State University football program announced on May 15 that it will hold a one-day youth camp for children entering grades kindergarten through eight on Friday, June 5. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until noon, with check-in beginning at 8 a.m.
The camp is designed to help participants learn more about football and develop sport-specific skills. Organizers said the experience is intended to be welcoming for children and provide an opportunity to interact directly with Terrence Isaac, Sr., who is in his first year as head coach of the Wayne State Warriors Men’s Football team.
“This kid friendly camp is centered around learning more about football and developing sport specific skills,” organizers said. “This will be a great opportunity for kids to not only have a learning experience but to learn what it is to be a Wayne State athlete.”
Attendees will participate in drills such as County Fair, Footwork Cone Drills, tug of war, and finish with a flag football game. The cost for each camper is $60.
The Wayne State Warriors Men’s Football team competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division II level and uses facilities in Detroit, Michigan for its home games, according to the official website.
