The Wayne State University men’s basketball program announced on May 18 that it will offer two weekends of team camps in June. The events are scheduled for June 20-21 and June 26-27.
These team camps provide high school varsity boys’ basketball teams with the opportunity to compete against each other in a college environment. Teams will play at both the WSU Fieldhouse and the newly-renovated Matthaei Center, with games running from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Game schedules and additional details will be sent during the week of each camp. Campers and coaches will also have a chance to meet current Wayne State University basketball players.
The camp is open exclusively to high school varsity boys’ teams. Each participating team is guaranteed four games, with MHSAA certified officials overseeing play. A concession stand will be available throughout the event. Organizers require each camper to download, fill out, sign, and bring specific forms found online; payment by check is encouraged for those requesting fewer than four games.
The Wayne State Warriors Men’s Basketball program has a longstanding presence in Detroit as part of Wayne State University’s athletics department and competes in NCAA Division II within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, according to the official website. The program recognizes an all-time list of top players from its history, maintains detailed records of achievements, and has seen athletes earn honors such as GLIAC Player of the Year and NCAA Regional All-Tournament selections, according to the official website.
As summer approaches, these upcoming camps aim to foster competitive experience for local high school athletes while providing exposure to collegiate facilities and staff.
