The Wayne State University men’s tennis team has been recognized as an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for 2025. The announcement also included individual Scholar-Athlete honors for six members of the squad.

To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.00 scale, include all student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form, and factor in all varsity letter winners into the GPA calculation for the academic year. The Wayne State men’s tennis team achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.8134 during the 2024-25 academic year.

For individual Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the current academic year and be listed on their institution’s eligibility form.

The following Wayne State athletes received ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction: Benjamin Hill (Sport Management), Cedric Drenth (Finance), Luis Klaus (MBA), George Day (Finance), Max Faniel (Marketing), and Sam Knowles (Finance). Their GPAs ranged from 3.53 to 4.00.

In addition to their academic achievements, the Wayne State Warriors posted a season record of 15-8 overall and went 5-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, earning them a spot in the NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament.

“The WSU men’s tennis team had a 3.8134 cumulative GPA during the 2024-25 academic year,” according to information released by Wayne State University Athletics.
