The Wayne State University volleyball program announced on May 8 the signing of four student athletes who will join the team this fall under head coach Tim Koth, entering his 13th season with the Warriors.
The new recruits are Giselle Burlingame from Northville, Skyye Frailey from Sterling Heights (Troy Athens), Bryn Mullins from Port Huron, and Abby Parrish from Chesterton, Indiana. These additions come as Wayne State prepares to defend its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and co-Regular Season Champion titles. “We look forward to welcoming this group to the Matthaei, and Warrior Volleyball,” said Koth. “Giselle, Bryn, and Skyye will bring strong pass and defend games, while Abby has the potential to become an elite setter. They are great people, wonderful students from good families – a perfect fit to the Warrior Family!”
Burlingame was a three-year letterwinner at Northville High School and contributed significantly to her team’s state title run in 2024. Frailey finished her high school career at Troy Athens with over 1,000 kills and received multiple honors including All-Region recognition. Mullins played for Port Huron High School where she earned All-Region accolades and surpassed 1,000 digs during her tenure. Parrish set a career assist record at Chesterton High School with 1,884 assists while helping her team secure conference titles.
Last season saw Wayne State achieve a 24-6 overall record with a 13-3 mark in conference play. The Warriors won both the GLIAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament before graduating several key players including setter Abby Macalaguim and senior All-American middle blocker Kayla Giroux.
Wayne State Warriors Women’s Volleyball competes at the NCAA Division II level as part of intercollegiate athletics in Detroit within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference according to the official website.
As these new recruits prepare for their first collegiate season under Coach Koth’s leadership, observers will be watching how they contribute toward building on last year’s successes.
