The Wayne State University women’s basketball program announced on May 17 that it will host three one-day girls team camps in June. The camps are scheduled for June 15, June 16, and June 17 and are open to high school teams with players entering grades nine through twelve in the fall of 2026.
The purpose of these camps is to provide local high school teams with an opportunity to compete and develop their skills ahead of the upcoming season. Each participating team will play two games per day at a cost of $200 per day. MHSAA officials will oversee all games during the event.
Team registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with a deadline set for June 9. Coaches must provide a reliable email address and phone number along with payment when registering their teams. Each athlete is required to complete both a Concussion Form and Sports Camp Health Form before participation; blank forms will also be available at registration.
Schools may choose to participate in one, two, or all three days of camp. Schedules for each team will be sent out about a week prior to the start date using the contact information provided during registration. Games are set to take place at both the WSU Fieldhouse and Matthaei gymnasium, which share parking facilities. Camp staff from Wayne State University will be present at both venues throughout the event.
Wayne State Warriors Women’s Basketball plays its home games in Detroit, Michigan, has participated in NCAA Tournaments, won Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference division titles such as North Division (2012-13) and South Division (2014-15), competes in intercollegiate athletics, maintains its base locally, and features “W the Warrior” as its mascot according to the official website.
