The Wayne State University women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season achieved significant academic recognition, with 11 players named as GLIAC All-Academic honorees. This number ties the highest in over two decades for the program. Over the past eight years, the Warriors have accumulated a total of 74 GLIAC All-Academic honors.

To qualify for this distinction, student-athletes must be active members of the roster by season’s end and cannot be freshmen or first-year transfer students. Grade-point averages are considered up to the fall semester, which is the last grading period before the season concludes.

Among those recognized, several were included in the All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining GPAs between 3.5 and 4.0. These include Annabel Ayrault from Grosse Pointe Woods, Ashley Bower from Portland, Lexi Boyke from Frankenmuth, McKenna Ferguson from Grandville, Emily Homan from Haslett, Alyssa Leister from St. Louis, Ally Shagena from Fort Gratiot, and Shea Tripp from Jackson.

Additionally, players with GPAs ranging from 3.0 to 3.49 were acknowledged as part of the All-Academic Team. Hillary Griffin from Jackson, Gabi Lutchka from Grass Lake, and Taylor Thompson from Grand Blanc were among those honored.

Leister, Shagena, and Tripp received further recognition as CSC Academic All-District selections. Notably, Tripp also earned a GLIAC Commissioner’s Award highlighting her excellence both athletically and academically.
