Grosse Pointe South High School issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
This is a safety reminder for ALL Students using the S-Lot. The speed limit in the parking lot is 5 miles per hour. Speeding or other types of reckless driving shall result in the loss of parking privileges for those with parking passes. Students using the S-lot please stay aware of other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians using the lot. Vehicles parked in the wrong space, vehicles without a valid pass or those blocking the aisle will be ticketed after one warning. Please be mindful when lining up to exit or enter the lot to avoid blocking circulation paths. The S-lot is not a drop off location. Parent vehicles do not belong in the lot before or during school hours. Student drop offs must take place on Fisher Road, Grosse Pointe Boulevard or another street in the general area. Cyclists and Moped drivers on campus must also observe basic traffic safety rules. Ride on the right edge of the road, out of the flow of traffic, when possible. Watch for vehicles leaving the curb or entering the road from side streets and driveways. Take necessary precautions to make sure you are visible to other drivers and pedestrians. Parking lot attendants are here to assist with directing traffic flow, monitoring speed and enforcing parking assignments for the safety of staff and students in the lot. From time to time Grosse Pointe Farms Police Officers will assist our attendants by issuing tickets as necessary. Please slow down, drive responsibly and show respect to our Parking Attendants and other drivers. Let’s work together to help keep everyone safe in the parking lot and around the South campus.
