Wayne County Public Schools issued the following announcement on Oct. 23.
“Building a new Fremont Elementary is and has been a joint effort by many people who have a vision for Wayne County Public Schools,” -Don Christopher West, Wayne County Board of Education Chair.
It’s planned that we’ll break ground on the new school in spring of 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2023. It is important to note that the school will be able to accommodate more than three times as many students as the current school!
“Fremont Elementary was originally constructed in 1923, and is one of the oldest schools in our state. We are excited that
NC Public Schools chose Wayne County for this grant opportunity, and we look forward to breaking ground on a new school in Fremont!” -Joe Daughtery, Wayne County Board of Commissioners Vice-Chair.
