Wayne State University’s women’s golf team is set to host its first-ever tournament, the Warrior Invitational. The event will take place on Monday and Tuesday at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Michigan, with tee time scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
"We are very excited to host the first ever Women's Golf Warrior Invitational with a strong field and at a great golf course in the Orchards," said head coach Larry Hamilton.
The tournament will feature teams from Davenport, Lake Superior State, Northwood, Northern Michigan, Ohio Dominican, Parkside, Purdue Northwest, Saginaw Valley State, and Wayne State.
The starting lineup for Wayne State includes Claudia Portillo from Madrid, Spain; Ting-Yu Kuo from Taipei, Taiwan; Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan; Sophia Wygonik from Westland, Michigan; and Orianna Bylsma from Montague, Michigan.
This event is the third of Wayne State's 2024-25 season. The Warriors began their fall season at Missouri-St. Louis' Midwest Ladies Collegiate at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana where they placed eighth out of 16 teams. They then competed in Ohio Dominican's Champions of Women's Golf Classic at Champions Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio finishing sixth among 15 teams.
