The student-athletes at Wayne State University have demonstrated notable academic success during the Fall 2023 semester. Sixty-two athletes achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA, and over 78% of Warrior student-athletes earned above a 3.00 GPA for the term. The collective GPA for all student-athletes was 3.385, with a cumulative GPA reaching 3.421.
Women's fencing led with a team GPA of 3.79, with seven out of eight members earning at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester. Other teams that performed well include women's swimming/diving (3.67), women's golf (3.66), and women's cross country (3.655). In total, twelve out of seventeen teams had a term GPA of at least 3.5.
"Warrior student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom, and I could not be prouder," stated Director of Athletics Erika Wallace. "It is no small feat for our students to put in the hours they do for their respective sports and continue to achieve academically at the level that they are."
Wallace acknowledged the role of Student Support Services Team and coaching staff in these achievements: "Every single one of our programs had a term GPA of 3.0 or above and has a cumulative GPA of 3.15 or above... Thank you all for your dedication to our student-athletes, we achieve so that we can grow!"
