The Wayne State University baseball program will host its fifth annual Home Run Derby Fundraiser on Friday, September 20 at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. The event is free to attend, beginning at 7 p.m., with entry through Gate D.
Each team will have a designated hitter aiming to hit as many home runs as possible within 60 seconds. For every additional $25 pledged, each team will receive an extra two seconds of hitting time.
Proceeds from the event will support the Wayne State University baseball team's priorities. Additionally, the team that raises the most money and hits the most home runs will earn special rewards. Fans can donate to help their favorite teams gain more time.
To date, the event has raised over $87,895, including $16,979 in 2020, $20,255 in 2021, $18,661 in 2022, and over $32,000 last fall. Donations can be made online or by contacting WSU Athletics Development Director Carter Lotz via email at carterlotz@wayne.edu or phone at 313-577-5368.
