Wayne State men's golf team advances on day two of Ken Partridge Invitational

The Wayne State University men's golf team improved its standing on the second day of the Ken Partridge Invitational in Noblesville, Indiana. The team shot a 282 (-6), which was two strokes off their season low, allowing them to advance four spots to fifth place. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday at Purgatory Golf Club, starting at 9 a.m.

Josh DiCarlo from Amherstburg, Ontario, led Wayne State with a score of 146 (75-71), tying for 11th place. His performance included his tenth sub-par round of the season. Head coach Mike Horn praised the team's effort: "It was an outstanding effort by the Warriors today," he said. "We really played well and made the most of opportunities."

Max Leppelmeier had a notable performance with a score of 66, just one stroke shy of the program record despite two double bogeys. Horn expressed satisfaction with the team's overall play and their ability to recover after a challenging first day: "It was nice to move up four spots and we're in position to make a run at the top three tomorrow."

The current standings show Grand Valley State leading with a total score of 574 (-2), followed by UIndy at 580 (+4) and Missouri S&T at 584 (+8). Wayne State stands in fifth place with a score of 594 (+18).
