Wayne State University's men's golf team secured a first-place finish at Saginaw Valley State's Al Watrous Invitational, marking the beginning of their 2024-25 season. The Warriors' "B" team led the 14-squad leaderboard with a score of 573 (-3), while the "A" group followed closely as the runner-up with a score of 581 (+5).
"What an outstanding finish today," said head coach Mike Horn. "If you scripted a perfect day, today was just that. Congratulations to Max (Leppelmeier) on a runner-up finish and to Mat, Josh, and Luc for finishing in the top five. Everyone played really solid today and we are going to have a very difficult time figuring out who is our actual top five week to week, but that is a great problem to have. I'm super proud of everybody, especially our newcomers and our veterans for coming through today."
