The Wayne State University men's fencing team completed its participation in the Ohio State University's Elite Invitational, held at the French Field House in Columbus. The event concluded on Sunday, November 9.

During the invitational, Wayne State recorded one win and seven losses. The team's victory came against Cleveland State University with a score of 20-7. Losses were recorded against Ohio State University (20-7), Air Force Academy (19-8), University of North Carolina (22-5), University of Pennsylvania (20-7), Princeton University (21-6), Harvard University (21-6), and Penn State University (21-6).

In the foil category, freshman Lukas Tsao achieved a 2-3 record on Sunday, including wins over Princeton and Harvard, bringing his total to 5-12 for the weekend. Jakub Oronowicz secured one win against Harvard on Sunday and finished with a 3-18 overall record. Finn McIsaac won one bout against Harvard for a weekend total of 3-17. Sam Gneuhs ended with a 2-12 record after losing all five bouts on Sunday.

For epee, Mahmoud Elsayed continued his strong performance by posting an 8-1 record on Sunday and finishing the weekend at 19-5. Shuayb Dinkins went 1-5 on Sunday to close out at 5-13 overall. Justin Chenh won one of three bouts on day two for a final tally of 2-9. Bryce Heim was defeated in all nine matches on Sunday and ended with a 3-16 mark.

In sabre competition, Eyad Marouf finished with an even record of 9-9 after dropping all six bouts on day two. Gabriel Dumoulin improved to a weekend total of 5-17 after going 3-6 on Sunday. Connor Desautels posted a final record of 6-18, including one win over Princeton on day two. Gwyd Perry went winless in three bouts Sunday for an overall mark of 3-5.

The next scheduled competition for Wayne State men's fencing is set for Saturday, January 31, at Northwestern's Schiller Duals—a two-day tournament hosted at Ryan Fieldhouse.
